Getting ready for the morning...

Rand went for his fourth MRI today at 2pm to prepare for tomorrow's brain biopsy. He has been experiencing unexplained memory loss and has also lost his sense of smell (but strangely enough, not his sense of taste.) His medical knowledge has not been affected (he is a P.A. & an R.N.) Until two weeks ago, every test (MRIs, PETscans, CATscans, & blood work ups) have all proved normal, but then there was significant enough change in the last MRI to lead the doctors to believe that he has some sort of brain virus (thus requiring the biopsy.)

Fortunately, everything is being done with Dr. Keith Black's group at Cedars-Sinai (where Rand works)...they all know him well, love him, and will take very good care of him. We are all hopeful that the virus will be pinpointed and treatable with an anti-viral drug.
