I had a scheduled appointment tonight at 6:30, which I totally forgot about. It was with our life insurance broker's health specialist, for a screening. I arrived home ready to take the kids out to meet Harmony for supper, only to be hit with the reminder that I needed to have blood drawn.
I'm not the best test candidate; I have very small veins which love to roll when poked at. I usually need to have a "butterfly" needle in the back of my hand (or even in my foot on occasion.) Needless to say, I was not happy.
My blood pressure and pulse checked in at their usual low level. These have never been problematic, but I was worried that they may be up with all the stress we've been under. The nurse was also happy with my weight loss (46 lbs.) Then it came time for the needle. I told her "you get one poke". She told me that she was "no vampire" and that if she couldn't feel a solid vein, she wouldn't even attempt a stab (she also told me that she was the "best".) I have to say, she was the best. First try, bit of pain; done. I'm so glad that's over.
